Don't worry too much about using and and or hinein negative contexts: native speakers get rein a muddle about it a lot, and I suspect that English is inherently ambiguous.

I guess I could use either one, depending on the sentence: "I welches beat down by a rouge wave." but "He has only been beaten three times hinein volleyball.". In either case I would probably use another verb -- "attacked" or "been defeated", to name a few.
